My son and I recently took the AZ CCW class with Doug and APDI. I’m pretty new to handguns and I wanted to get safety instruction for myself and my son as well as the information I needed to receive the AZ CCW permit.
Quite frankly I expected a bunch of old war stories and not much instruction. I was pleasantly surprised. Doug did a great job of setting the foundation of the class; “safety”. He had great visuals, examples and in-depth instruction on the AZ CCW and handgun safety.
On segment on the range was significant for me. Doug showed us correct procedures on how to “draw” your weapon, how to think safety first and to be aware of your situation.
I would highly recommend Doug for any of his courses. In fact, I plan to take the AZ CCW Advanced class this fall.

When my son wanted to take the ccw class I thought it would be a good idea when I thought about sitting in a class room for eight hours I thought bad idea I mean this is going to be really boring. Much to my suprise I found it very informative and very interesting I was never once bored or uninterested.Doug is a great teacher I would and have recomended his class to anyone .

I took the AZ CCW Class last weekend with Doug. I had very little experience with handguns and had zero confidence in handling a pistol. I now feel confident enough to handle a gun without being afraid of it. There was extensive classroom instruction regarding safety and rules prior to range instruction, with plenty of opportunity for questions.
On the range, professionalism was the rule in instructing the students on when to shoot, what to do in the event of a weapon malfunction, and general range etiquette. I knew that I did not have to worry about confusion on the part of the students regarding what was expected of us.
I highly recommend Doug Little for this course.

Having taken the CCW training by Doug many years ago (my 2nd renewal), I learned so much more about the responsibilities of routine concealed carry than many other courses I’d taken. As an instructor of the mechanics of the employment of firearms and other defensive weapons, Doug goes beyond the simple point-and-shoot mentality and forces the student to understand the grave nature of the use of deadly force. Through this education, I feel I am better prepared to defend my life and the lives of my family and friends if the need should ever arise.
I highly recommend Doug’s training program for going above and beyond the legal requirements for AZ CCW training.
